Agree with Bob. Dahon is a very good make. Available from pretty much every bike store nationwide and worldwide. The prices vary, and some dealers do special deals to get you to buy them. They are also very stylish, but also being lightweight to carry about on the train etc.

The main suffering they suffer is broken or rusted hinges. Be sure to oil them, as they fold alot, and without good hinges, the bike will get ruined. Also, the spokes go through so much pressure, so be sure to check them often to make sure. Apart from that, folding bikes are pretty much suffer free, unless of course you crash, which causes a BIG problem to you and the bike

Although you do have very nearly zero rights, you are allowed to have a bike. I know plenty of four-degrees (freshmen) with bikes. A few weeks after BCT ends there is parents week and that might be a good time to bring it. If it is collapsible it depends on what size it gets to whether you could keep it in your room or not. Honestly the best bet would probably be to keep it in the bike racks under the dorms though. You have to register it and lock it up, but then you can keep it there.

Actually, the kind of bike you’re looking for is just called a folder!

These days there are 2 basic types of folders, commuter and military. Ironically, I would say the military is better for commuting, and the commuter is better for leisure. Both are often more expensive than your average bike because of design. Both would also take up very little room in your car.

The military bike folds out to almost the size of a standard mountain bike, but was designed to be carried by paratroopers so you can imagine how small they fold. Since they’re almost the size of a mountain bike, it’s pretty comfortable and you have room to stretch out your legs and can pick up good speed. Montague is the largest manufacturer of those bikes.

The commuter bikes are much smaller, so they pack even better than the military folders, but their wheels are tiny. They ride more like upright BMXes and are terrible for your knees. They’re great if you’re not tackling more than 2 miles a day on them. Dahon specializes in them, but I’d actually recommend the KHS F20. It’s a really sturdy folder and a lot of the cheaper ones tend to have joints that fail (IE won’t fold in the future).

Dahon also makes hybrid bikes that can fold, but they get pricey.

If space is an issue I would go with a rowing machine. I used to work at a gym and a personal trainer there told me she lost 10 pounds in 1 month using just that machine every day. It works your whole body and you build strength while getting a cardio workout at the same time. As with any other exercise machine make sure to use proper form to avoid injury. Personally, I prefer the elliptical, but I’ve read many bad reviews on the fold-away kind, saying they break easily. Another machine is a mini exercise bike. You pedal with your feet for a lower body workout or pedal with your hands to work your upper body. The bad thing with that is it will take twice as long to get a full body workout. So, a rowing machine seems to be a good choice as it hopefully won’t break as easily as a compact elliptical and is less time consuming than a mini exercise bike.

Tourism in Ladakh India, the Dropped Piece of Heaven!

Ladakh has no match. It has an ideal location that is bounded by two of the world’s mightiest mountain ranges, the Great Himalaya and the Karakoram. There are so many different stories about the formation of this majestic site the most believed one of these is; formation by the buckling and folding of the earth’s crust as the Indian sub-continent pushed with irresistible force against the immovable mass of Asia. Every summer millions of people visit this site including India flights takers as temperatures rarely exceed about 27 degree Celsius in summer. Ladakh is largest district of India, covering more than half the area of Jammu and Kashmir. Ladakh means land of high; it is named so as it has an average elevation of 3,500 m. it has taken the form of a valley covering an area of 97,000 sq km. If you take tickets to India you will discover that it’s an exciting experience to fly over the dramatic regions of the Himalayas.

Ladakh Activities: Ladakh is opened as a tourist’s place just a few years ago, since than every year a large number of foreigners come into this valley. Foreign tourists particularly youngsters take Tickets to India to see unspoiled nature of this region. Adventure sports are much popular here. Safari tour, mountain trekking, hiking, and biking are very popular among tourists. The historic monasteries, also known as gompas, located in the hills and mountains are also visited by those purchasing their tickets to India to pay a visit to this religious place. This is the place with endless beauty. This is the perfect place to visit in summer but in winter it is covered with snow presenting a more scenic view of the valley. Transportation in most of the areas is easy but becomes difficult in the areas at more height. For convenience of both locals and those taking flights to India from UK Buses and taxis are easily available from Leh to the surrounding villages. There is a bit less than 1000 km of paved roads in Ladakh. The large number of trails and the limited number of roads allows one to string together routes. The water of the nearby lake is cool and clear providing many tourism options for tourists. This lake is greatly attracting visitor’s attraction.
