The main suffering they suffer is broken or rusted hinges. Be sure to oil them, as they fold alot, and without good hinges, the bike will get ruined. If space is an issue I would go with a rowing machine. I used to work at a gym and a personal trainer there told me she lost 10 pounds in 1 month using just that machine every day. It works your whole body and you build strength while getting a cardio workout at the same time. As with any other exercise machine make sure to use proper form to avoid injury. Personally, I prefer the elliptical, but I’ve read many bad reviews on the fold-away kind, saying they break easily. Another machine is a mini exercise bike. You pedal with your feet for a lower body workout or pedal with your hands to work your upper body. The bad thing with that is it will take twice as long to get a full body workout. So, a rowing machine seems to be a good choice as it hopefully won’t break as easily as a compact elliptical and is less time consuming than a mini exercise bike.
